Terms of Service

Effective October 24, 2026

These terms cover this website (adamkarst.com) and the apps HolyMole (holymole.adamkarst.com) and Lernen (learn.adamkarst.com). My other apps, including brewin'plans, VaultKnox and kinhaven, have their own terms, shown in each app. By using these sites, you agree to these terms.

Free to use, as is

The apps are free. They're built and run by one person, Adam Karst, and are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. I do my best to keep them working, but I can't promise they'll always be available, free of bugs, or that they'll keep every feature. I may change or stop an app at any time.

Your data is yours

Everything you put into the apps belongs to you. It's stored in your browser, in your own Google Drive if you sign in, and in any files you save. I don't own it, see it or use it. The Privacy Policy explains this in detail.

Because your data lives with you, keeping it safe is in your hands too. Browsers can clear their stored data, so keep a backup: sign in to sync with Google Drive, or save a copy (HolyMole has a save file for this).

HolyMole is not medical advice

HolyMole is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, and it doesn't diagnose, screen for or assess any condition, including skin cancer. Its optional AI comparison only describes visible differences between photos, and it can be wrong. Don't rely on HolyMole to decide whether to see a doctor. If a mole changes in size, shape, colour or border, or itches or bleeds, see a doctor or dermatologist.

Lernen

Lernen is a study aid for German, French and Alberta Grade 5 math. Its course content, answer checking, audio and worked solutions are offered in good faith but may contain mistakes. It doesn't certify any level of German or French, or any grade or achievement in math, and it doesn't replace a teacher. The math follows Alberta's published Grade 5 programme of studies, but it isn't produced or endorsed by Alberta Education.

A parent or guardian is responsible for a child's use of Lernen, including the Google account the child signs in with. The Privacy Policy explains how children's data is handled.

Using the apps fairly

Please don't use the apps for anything illegal, try to break or overload them, or use them to harm anyone. You're responsible for what you store in them and for keeping your own accounts and keys (such as an Anthropic API key) secure.

Other services

Some features use services run by others: Google sign-in and Google Drive, and, if you choose, Anthropic's API or an online voice. Your use of those is also covered by their own terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of these sites or apps. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid to use them, which is nothing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes

If these terms change, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
